At High Connection Flowers we have taken an important step in our history: receiving the Florverde Sustainable Flowers certification, an international recognition that endorses flower production processes based on high social, labor, environmental, and quality standards. For us, this achievement represents the result of collective work that begins in our crops, continues in every administrative area, and is strengthened by the decisions, planning, and commitment of our management team.
Florverde Sustainable Flowers (FSF) is an independent social and environmental standard specializing in the floriculture sector. Its objective is to verify that certified flowers have been produced responsibly, considering both product quality and its impact on people and the environment. Its standard covers aspects that are part of the entire operation of a flower farm: labor rights, worker training and well-being, occupational health and safety, responsible water management, soil conservation, phytosanitary control, waste management, biodiversity, energy, carbon footprint, post-harvest care, and traceability. One of the pillars of Florverde is the well-being of those who are part of the floriculture industry. Its standard incorporates criteria related to labor rights, equality, dignity, security, freedom, and compliance with the conditions established by national legislation and the international principles of the International Labour Organization, in an environment free from all forms of harassment. It also contemplates the training and development of workers, as well as mechanisms aimed at improving health and safety conditions within the work environment.
When we see an immaculate rose, perfectly selected and ready to travel to its destination, it is easy to observe only the final result, but behind it lie hundreds of decisions, controls, and coordinated actions. There is the field staff, who know each plant, accompany its growth, and daily apply the processes necessary to maintain our production standards. There is the team in charge of harvesting and post-harvest, where each flower is carefully handled, selected, classified, and prepared to preserve its quality.
There are our administrative collaborators, responsible for turning good practices into organized processes, records, controls, documentation, monitoring, and traceability. And there is the management team, in charge of setting objectives, allocating resources, evaluating results, and maintaining a vision of continuous improvement. This comprehensive participation is especially relevant because the Florverde standard requires that socio-environmental objectives be documented, measurable, and accompanied by action plans, persons in charge, and monitoring.
Having Florverde Sustainable Flowers represents an additional endorsement for our customers. It allows us to demonstrate that behind the appearance, size, color, durability, and freshness of our roses, there is also an organization committed to responsible and verifiable processes. For those who buy Ecuadorian export roses, knowing how the product was produced takes on special relevance. Traceability, good agricultural practices, the care of workers, and the responsible management of resources strengthen trust among producers, distributors, florists, and consumers.
We want to keep learning, strengthening our processes, taking care of those who make our work possible, and finding new ways to responsibly produce the roses our customers expect to receive. Today we look at this certification with pride because behind it lies the effort of many people.
